About the fabric

Beautiful embroidered lace from Albert Guegain

This parasol is made using lace from Albert Guegain, a long-established embroidery manufacturer founded in 1956.
Because it is produced in northern France, which is famous for river lace and embroidery, it has a historical feel, but also features motifs and colors that are typically French, creating a high-quality feel that will make you feel enchanted just by looking at it.
In Japan, it is also used for wedding dresses and has long been loved as a gorgeous, luxurious lace.

Handles decorated with individually hand-painted flowers

The handles are carefully painted one by one using the tole painting technique to match the world of the parasol, vividly expressing the world of Ghegan lace.
We have painted flowers to match the colours of the umbrellas, but even though they are the same flowers, each one is unique.

Parasol with enhanced heat shielding effect

The cotton lining has been treated to enhance its UV protection and heat shielding effects, achieving a heat shielding rate of over 30% while retaining the texture unique to natural materials. This is a stylish and highly functional parasol that you can use a lot during the hot summer.

名入れについて : Both direct engraving and plate engraving are possible

  • Individually hand-painted flower handles

The handles are carefully hand-painted using the tole painting technique to match the parasol.
We have a picture of a flower drawn to match the color of the umbrella, but each flower is unique with a different expression.

  • Rokuro winding and dowel winding

The part that moves up and down when opening and closing the umbrella is called the "rokuro" and the joint part of the bone is called the "dabo."
The process of protecting each of these parts with the umbrella fabric is called "rokuromaki" and "dabomaki," and each part is carefully attached and covered to protect your hands when opening the umbrella and to prevent damage to the ribs, while also creating a traditional beauty and sense of luxury.
This is an old-fashioned technique that is time-consuming and therefore not seen much these days, but all of Komiya Shoten's long umbrellas are equipped with it.

  • Ribs and Shaft

The ribs are made of lightweight and durable fiberglass material. It has a moderate thickness and flexibility, so it is lightweight but strong against wind. It is also a rust-free material, so it is easy to maintain on a daily basis.
The center pole is made of domestic oak.
Oak is characterized by its hardness and durability, and beautiful grain, which makes it suitable for use in building wooden ships.

Piano wire is used for the trigger.
It is a traditional material that is smooth to the touch and gentle on your fingers.

The ferrule is made from buffalo horn.
The unique texture and luster of natural materials create a luxurious feel.
