OUR STORY
Approaching 100 years since our founding, we continue to craft umbrellas today.
From the Beginning of Komiya Shoten to Today
The history of "Komiya Shoten" dates back to 1919, when the founder, Hōshō Komiya, moved from Yamanashi Prefecture to Tokyo to begin his apprenticeship. After 11 years of training, he established "Komiya Hōshō Shoten," an umbrella making business, in Hamachō, Nihonbashi in 1930. The store was later destroyed during the war, and he faced many hardships. However, amidst the burnt ruins, he rebuilt the store in Nihonbashi Tachibanachō (now Higashi-Nihonbashi), and it has continued as "Komiya Shoten" ever since. The long-selling men's umbrella "Tachibana" is named after this location.

We will continue working towards being a fulfilling and rewarding company.
